STAR has been named the Designer’s Choice Award recipient in the 2025 Best of beMatrix North America Awards, presented by Exhibit City News. The award recognizes STAR’s work on a custom exhibit for 3M at CES 2025, honoring excellence in design execution and innovative use of the beMatrix modular frame system.
Now in its eleventh year, the Best of beMatrix North America Awards recognize standout projects across tradeshow, retail, outdoor, experiential, and international environments. The 2025 program honored 13 projects spanning both completed builds and conceptual work, with judging criteria focused on technical execution, clarity of structure, and effective use of the beMatrix system.
STAR’s award-winning 3M exhibit was recognized for its clear spatial organization and strong visual impact. The experience is organized around a tall, rectangular entry frame that creates a defined threshold into the space. Large LEDskin walls line the exhibit, displaying a grid of image-based content that extends upward to full height, while a matching LED backdrop anchors the rear of the environment. An open aisle maintains clear circulation and direct sightlines through the structure, creating an inviting and intuitive visitor journey.
Judges cited both technical execution and problem solving as key factors in their evaluations, noting the depth of system knowledge demonstrated and the creative ways designers applied the beMatrix system.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from peers who understand both the creative and technical opportunities of modular systems,” said Justin Dworak, President at STAR. “The 3M project challenged us to balance bold visual storytelling with clarity, circulation, and structural precision, and we’re proud to see that approach recognized with a Designer’s Choice Award.”
Founded in 1995, beMatrix manufactures a modular frame system widely used throughout the exhibit and event industry. The Best of beMatrix North America Awards celebrate designers and fabricators who push the system’s capabilities across scale, setting, and application.
